Hike and Restore 🌱🥾

Lace up your boots for an adventure on National Hiking Day up to Willow Lake!

This scenic trail offers the perfect balance of challenge and ease, featuring shaded forest sections, mountain views, aspen groves, and a beautiful alpine lake destination. The route is approximately 2.5 miles with moderate elevation gain, making it approachable for most experience levels while still offering a good sweat!

Along the way, expect beautiful scenery and a chance to reconnect with nature and with one another. Wildlife sightings are common in the area, including moose and waterbirds, so keep your eyes open and admire from a safe distance.

Joining Instructions Meeting Location

  • Big Cottonwood Canyon Park & Ride Arrival Time: 8:15 AM

  • We'll use this time for check-in, restroom access, and a quick gear check before heading up the canyon

  • Please note: This will be the only restroom opportunity before the hike

  • The group will depart promptly for the trailhead at 8:50 AM

  • The hike will begin by 9:15 AM

Trail Details

Willow Lake Trail - 2.5 miles - 629 elevation gain - approx. 2 hours (round trip)

What to Bring

  • Hiking or athletic shoes with traction

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Light jacket or layer (mountain weather can shift quickly)

  • Sunglasses

  • Sunscreen

  • Snack

  • Positive energy and readiness to connect
